1 In Szczecin (Stettin) it is reported that civilians were forced to move out of 

, homes on TJllca Lukasikaj, Ulica Spoldzielcza, and Ulica Leszczynskiego. The houses 

have been equipped to station troops and for other military uses. These three 
streets are located east of the pairb of the city called Pogodno, which was eaxlier 
used for quartering Soviet troops and for other purposes.

On Eel Peninsula, the Polish units have sent the older men home and have replaced 
them with two-year recruits. The officers are reported to be predominantly Soviet. 
Small Soviet units are reportedly stationed on Hel Peninsula also.

armed resistance groups have 

increased their activity. This is especially the case in the northeEistem part of 
the country, in the provinces of Olsztyn (Allens teln) and Bialystok, In October 
there were about 200 wounded soldiers froa the KBW military unit at the hospital 
in Lomoza (70 kilometers west of Bialystok). This unit had been fighting with 
the ** forest-people”. In other parts of the country there has been resistance 
activity on a smaller scale. In this connection^ southeastern Poland and the areas 
around Bydgoszcz and Poznan are especially mentioned. According to tmconfiimed 
information, partisans have appeared even near Pultiisk, only 50 kilometers from Warsawi
